The job description fits you to a T, and the pay isn\u2019t too bad either. But how do you really know if you\u2019ll like the environment, people or company culture? Finding out about a company\u2019s true personality may not be as difficult as you think. Follow the easy steps below and you\u2019ll be on your way to uncovering what it\u2019s really like to work there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrive 15 minutes early to your interview.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This is a good practice when job hunting.\n It gives you an opportunity to sit back and observe your surroundings. \nIs the physical office space clean and organized? Do employees greet the\n receptionist and each other when coming in and out? Without making it \nobvious, try to listen to the conversations going on around you. Are \npeople complaining or do they appear productive for the most part? Are \nyou getting that warm and fuzzy feeling yet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Request a tour of the office.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ask your interviewer to show you around \nthe office. Take notice of the employee workspace and office setup. Are \nthe cubes and offices roomy enough? Do they have an employee lounge or \ncafe? Are people talking and working together or is it\u2026 silent? Ask \nyourself if you would feel comfortable spending nine hours a day in this\n environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schedule your interview at lunch or at the end of the day.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Not only will this fit better with your \nschedule, but you can also check out employees\u2019 attitudes when returning\n from lunch or leaving for the day. Are they smiling and looking \ngenerally happy, or do they look exhausted and grumpy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ask!<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019d be surprised how many people don\u2019t \nsimply ask! Ask each person you meet with how he or she feels about \nworking at this company. Pay particular attention to their response and \nbody language \u2014 did they take a deep breath before answering or did a \nsmile break out across their face? What are their likes and dislikes? \nHave they made any good friends or found mentors at the company?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do a Reality Check.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

To get an honest look at the company\u2019s \nflexibility, ask your interviewer to discuss challenges he or she has \nencountered on past projects and how the issues were ultimately \nresolved. Were the challenges surrounding top-management red tape and an\n inability to move forward? (\u201cProceed with Caution\u201d). Or were the issues\n typical of most projects: low resources, client\u2019s microscopic budget or\n technology snag? (\u201cUnfortunate but Common\u201d). Are these issues that you \nare used to handling or will this throw you for a loop?
